The Order of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ (OPS)

The Society of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ (SPS)

Prelude

It is the work of the Order of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ and the attendant Society of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ (assumed to be included when only the Order is mentioned/described) to spread the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ, to overcome the secular evil that threatens the very foundation of Creation, that of threats to the ‘Sanctity of Life’ in all forms and at all ages. This witness is nurtured by a life in conversation with God, and is nourished daily by prayer, meditation and reception of Holy Communion, while living in the secular world. A member will fully develop those talents given him or her by God (i.e., in prayer and writing or in liturgy, music, art, education, etc.). He or she shall use these talents to the best of his or her ability in the diocese, parish, or mission to which he or she belongs.

We believe that human beings are created by God in His image. Therefore, every person, from conception to natural death, possesses inherent dignity and immeasurable worth including preborn children, elderly individuals, those with special needs and others marginalized by society. Members of the Order, then, are called to defend, protect, and value all human life!

Charism

The Order welcomes individuals who are called to defend the Sanctity of Life through either of two gifts from our Lord; a Contemplative Charism or a Community Charism.

Contemplative life within the Order of the Most Precious Blood is a lived response to a call from God, heard within the heart; a call to go apart while remaining in the secular world and enter more fully into the search for God. It is marked by a life of intense prayer for the Sanctity of Life and the protection of  the Sacramental and Liturgical life of the Order and of the Church, cultivated in silence and solitude whenever possible but lived within the secular community holding the deep needs of those in the grip of evil in this world in the heart and in the presence of our Loving God and praying intensely for their reconciliation and salvation. Members with this Charism from our Lord may also participate in the production of explanatory/educational materials supportive of the mission of Order.

A member whose charism involves contact with and participation in the lives of others, Community Life, will fully develop those talents given him or her by God (i.e., in liturgy, music, art, education, etc.). He or she shall use these action-oriented talents to the best of his or her ability in the diocese, parish, or mission to which he or she belongs to further the protection of the unborn or any threat to the Gift of life.

Membership

Members of the Society (an extension of the Order) are critical to the success of our mission. Society members do not take vows to the Order but do participate in extensive training and education and are considered equal in all thrusts of the Order. Clergy and lay-persons are joyously welcomed as members of the Society.

Members of the Order eventually take vows to the Order and serve as Clergy (properly ordained within their jurisdiction and with permission of their Bishop), Brothers or Sisters in our mission to save the ‘innocents’ of our world. Such ‘dedication’ engenders total immersion in our mission through the charism given to the ‘vowed’ members by our Lord as leaders in the parish and the local community.
